The June monthly meeting will feature Paul Dinice who will be speaking

The Six Stages of Fly Fishing – A Life’s Experience

“Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after” ~ Henry David Thoreau

Instead of focusing on catching more or larger fish, or discussing a fly fishing destination you may never be lucky enough to visit, the primary focus of this presentation is on the fly fisherman. What is it that drives us to be so passionate about the "Quiet Sport"? This program examines the various "stages" in a flyfishers' life - including the initial "discovery" of the sport, the need to continually educate ourselves and learn more about it, it’s addictive powers, the friendships it has helped us form, etc.

Paul Dinice is an NPTU chapter member and a member of the Housatonic Fly Fisherman’s Association. For the past 35 years he has written the “Fly of the Month” section of the HFFA newsletter and website, and he writes a flyfishing blog called Tight Lines Fly Fishing (http://tightlinesflyfishing.blogspot.com.es/). He contributed to a book entitled “Over-Winter Striper Secrets” by Captain Al Anderson. The contributions included photographs and writings which were incorporated in the section on fishing the Housatonic. His “Closer Crab” pattern appeared in the 2012 Winter edition of Fly Tyer Magazine. Paul has also organized numerous small fly fishing expo’s here in CT and has been a featured guest tyer at our NPTU Fly Tying Workshops.

The meeting is free and open to the public. It is held at the ION Bank Community Center building, 270 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT (next to the YMCA). There is parking on the street and in the bank lot across the street. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. but doors open at 6:30 p.m. for pizza, soda, raffles, conversation and camaraderie with fellow anglers and conservationists. Make a friend or bring a friend!

In addition to an engaging presentation, and the usual camaraderie, we will have free pizza, refreshments, and some great items to raffle after our regular chapter business. And, of course, bring a friend. We look forward to seeing you there !
