NPTU's May Monthly Meeting will feature Dave Surowiecki who will be speaking on "European Nymphing Techniques".

Naugatuck-Pomperaug Trout Unlimited will host guest speaker DAVID SUROWIECKI, with a presentation on European Nymphing Techniques at our Wednesday May 3rd chapter meeting, 6:30 pm, in Naugatuck.

European Nymphing Techniques with Dave Surowiecki

Join the Naugatuck-Pomperaug chapter of Trout Unlimited Wednesday evening, May 3rd, as our Guest Speaker, Dave Surowiecki, shares everything he knows about European-style nymphing techniques. Dave will discuss everything from tackle to techniques, tactics and flies.

It has been said that 80 to 90 percent of all trout feeding activity takes place subsurface. However, It has also been said that a high percentage of strikes are missed while nymphing, and that, even with the best strike indicator, many subtle takes go unnoticed.

If you are interested in increasing your efficiency and making the most of your time on the water while fishing for trout, then you should consider adding Euro-style nymphing techniques to your repertoire. Dave will help you get set up to nymph the European way — with long rods, special leaders, light lines, weighted nymphs, and perfect drifts. Dave will share the techniques and approaches he has learned on our Connecticut rivers, but has also honed on Polish, Czech and Slovenian waters during his travels abroad over the past several years.

The meeting is free and open to the public. It is held at the ION Bank Community Center building, 270 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT (next to the YMCA). There is parking on the street and in the bank lot across the street. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. but doors open at 6:30 p.m. for pizza, soda, conversation and camaraderie with fellow anglers. And don’t miss out on a terrific raffle! See you there ... and bring a friend!

David Surowiecki is the CVTU secretary and a professional commercial and editorial photographer based in Connecticut.
