The monthly meeting of the Naugatuck-Pomperaug chapter of Trout Unlimited is set for 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. February 3, 2020 at the Beacon Falls Senior Center, 57 North Main St., Beacon Falls, CT. Doors open @ 6:30, pizza will be provided.

This month’s speaker will be Alicea Charamut from Rivers Alliance.  Her presentation is on "The State of Our Rivers"

There are so many ways we can keep our rivers clean, healthy and full of life. Join us for our February meeting where you will hear from Alicea Charamut, Executive Director of Rivers Alliance of Connecticut and fellow fly angler, to hear about what is going on at the state-wide level and locally. What are the opportunities and challenges do our river face? What can you do to help?

Alicea Charamut assumed the role of Executive Director of Rivers Alliance in May of 2019. Prior to that she was the River Steward for the Connecticut River Conservancy. While her career began working in genomics during the height of the Biotech boom, she found an outlet for her passion for rivers through Trout Unlimited serving in various roles at the chapter and state level. As a fly angler, paddler and rower, water is as central to her play as it is her work.

Alicea also serves as a volunteer in several capacities as Secretary of the Fisheries Advisory Council, a member of the Connecticut Council on Environmental Quality, and on the Advisory Board of the Connecticut Institute of Water Resources. She is also the Co-Chair of the Water Planning Council Advisory Group. Alicea holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Connecticut.
