CONSERVATION Bob Gregorski BSA Troop 140 NAUGATUCK RIVER CLEANUP April 25, 2017

CONSERVATION Bob Gregorski

Here’s the email from Troop Leader Bill Fitzpatrick.
“Hi Bob,We had a great day on the River. All our bee shelters held up well. The Tree Swallows were out in great numbers and just like the oldhttp://emailimages.tumembership.org/chapter_images/0000/2145/BSA_NaugRCleanup_199x145.png days, fighting to get into cleaned houses. 24 houses had mice and 22 had birds. The new ones we put in last year all had birds. Besides the Tree Swallows we saw 8 pairs of Robin, Two pairs of Ducks and Garden snakes. It was windy and cold but the sun was strong. As usual, we were able to amass a large pile of debris, most of the tires had rims and braking mechanisms connected to them. I was moved by some of our new younger scouts. They were in total disbelief that people would litter. I was impressed how much it upset them. They could not believe the number of cigarette butts that littered the sandy area near the guardrails. - Bill Fitz”

Note: Troop 140 has completed a riverbank clean up along the west bank of the Naugy from the Huntingdon Ave. bridge south to West Main Street in Waterbury for the last 25 years.
